When selecting various types of cosmetics, most salespeople, in order to achieve their sales goals, often exaggerate the benefits of their products. As a consumer, how can you discern the actual quality of cosmetic products? Below are some testing methods that should come in handy when you're shopping for cosmetics.

Is your toner mild enough? A test strip will tell you.

Procedure: Drop some toner onto a test strip. If the pH value is less than 7 and the strip turns red, it indicates acidity; if greater than 7 and the strip turns blue, it indicates alkalinity. If the result is close to pH 7 (neutral) or close to the skin's pH value of 5.5, it means your toner is very mild and won't irritate your skin. However, if you want your toner to have astringent or exfoliating functions, a pH value of 4-5 would be ideal.
