The installation of grating linear displacement sensors is relatively flexible and can be installed in different parts of the machine tool.
Generally, the main scale is installed on the machine tool's worktable (slide), moving with the tool carriage, while the readout head is fixed on the bed of the machine. Wherever possible, the readout head should be installed below the main scale. The choice of installation method must take into account the direction of chips, cutting fluid, and oil splashes. If installation position restrictions necessitate that the readout head be installed facing upwards, it will then be necessary to add auxiliary sealing devices. Additionally, under normal circumstances, the readout head should be installed as much as possible on components of the machine tool that remain stationary, allowing the output wires to remain stationary and easily secured. Meanwhile, the scale body should be installed on components of the machine tool that move (such as the slide).
