The first time I've seen such a clear version that can be watched online. The downside is that it requires a bandwidth of 2M for smooth online viewing; otherwise, you can only download it and watch later.
"The Beauty and the Kingdom" does not set the story in a specific dynasty but uses an imaginary era background to narrate a romantic fairy tale. In the age of feudal lords fighting each other and wars raging everywhere, Donnie Yen plays a general responsible for training the princess's (Charlene Choi) martial arts. Later, the princess was harmed by a treacherous minister (Xiaodong Guo), then escaped from the palace, luckily saved by a highly skilled hermit (Leon Lai), and the two subsequently fell in love. With the help of the hermit, the princess removed the treacherous minister who killed her father and reclaimed the throne. At this moment, however, the princess chose to retreat to the mountains with the hermit, abandoning the great kingdom for love. Behind-the-scenes production: Donnie Yen talks about his character.
Donnie Yen plays General Murong Xuehu in the film, who has always been deeply in love with Charlene Choi as Princess Feier of Yan. To protect the woman he loves, he spares no blood on the battlefield. One major battle scene where Donnie Yen fights alone against enemy troops can't help but remind people of Jackie Chan's role as General Meng Yi in "Myth," both facing hundreds of enemies alone. However, Donnie Yen disagrees: "They are completely different. The Murong Xuehu character is more fierce than Meng Yi. The ending is very tragic, I fight desperately with many people, fighting to my heart's content, and in the end, I am truly exhausted. Whether in ancient costumes or modern films, the characters I portray all have explosive power."
Donnie Yen talks about his injuries.
When talking about his collaboration with director Xiaodong Cheng, Donnie Yen joked that he had long prepared mentally to accept strict requirements. "After shooting movies for so many years, I've only been injured three times, two of which were while working with Xiaodong Cheng, once during 'New Dragon Gate Inn' and once during 'Hero,' both times he was the action director. He is famously strict when shooting movies."
