Love is a dream, marriage is a predicament

Not long ago, I overheard an old professor reprimanding his student on the bus. He said, "Who asked you to try to understand her? Women are meant to be loved, not to be understood; if they could be fully understood, would they still be women?" He also said, "Love is a dream, and marriage is a predicament." I don't know if he came up with these ideas himself, but I found them quite interesting, so I wanted to share some thoughts about it.

"Love is a dream, and marriage is a predicament" probably has a similar meaning to "Marriage is the graveyard of love," doesn't it?
