SolSource uses a self-developed coating that can reflect nearly 90% of sunlight, and it can boil one liter of water in 10 to 15 minutes. The material's usability has also greatly improved, with an estimated lifespan of up to 6 years.

The SolSource mirror has a specially designed gap so users can stand there to cook, solving the problem of eyes being easily dazzled by reflected light when cooking facing the mirror, or being easily scalded when standing in the opposite direction. In terms of weight, SolSource is only 18 kilograms and can be folded for easy movement.

SolSource has already been practically tested in several provinces in mainland China, including Tibet, Qinghai, Gansu, Guizhou, Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, Yunnan, and Shaanxi. It is currently raising funds on Kickstarter for official production. The team originally aimed to raise $43,000, but they have now raised over $70,000.
