Rumor Refutation: A strong earthquake of above 7 will hit Xi'an and Tianshui in the coming two weeks.

I just saw a piece of information saying that strong earthquakes over 7 degrees will occur in Tianshui and Xian. The theoretical basis is the picture from the US Geological Survey showing the aftershocks distribution of the WenChuan earthquake in one week.

In fact, this picture is real and it does come from the US Geological Survey. But it only shows the aftershocks distribution since the Sichuan earthquake occurred. Moreover, these aftershocks are absolutely not produced step by step from southwest to northeast. And their occurrence has nothing to do with the transfer of the seismic focus to northeast. It is even not the latest forecast from the United States Geological Survey (USGS)!
