In 1977, at the West Coast Computer Faire, Jobs and Bill Gates met for the first time. Jobs rented a conspicuous booth right at the main entrance of the exhibition hall for $5000, where he was about to launch Apple's second-generation product, the Apple II. Among the thousands of enthusiastic fans of Jobs' products was the then-unknown Bill Gates. Meeting Jobs was like meeting a celebrity for Bill Gates.
