The pictures released by Chang'e-1 were found by netizens to have errors in splicing.

Although this is a mistake that no one wants to see, it is true as the attitude held by the netizen "美的眼睛" (Beautiful Eyes), scientists also have the time when they make mistakes. If it is an unintentional fault, everyone should not be too critical. Besides, there are many talented people in China, and we should feel happy and proud :)

When I replied to a post a few days ago, I made an estimate: in ten years or so, on the lunar surface of hundreds of kilometers by hundreds of kilometers, the most likely result would be new impact craters with diameters at the meter level. Of course, we cannot rule out the possibility of new craters at the kilometer level, but that should be a very, very low probability event.

I was a little surprised when Academician Ouyang said it today, but it is indeed very obvious on the map. I just compared our map carefully with Google Moon and found that the claim of "new impact craters" has serious problems. It is most likely that the problem lies in the image stitching process. One side may have stitched the images incorrectly. I will post a new thread on the Chang'e forum for everyone to take a good look.

My World Wind is broken and I can't get clear lunar surface images. If anyone has it, please bring it over and compare.
