Introduction to the World Trade Center:
The original site was located at the southwestern end of Manhattan Island, New York City, USA. To the west is the Hudson River. It was designed by Japanese-American architect Minoru Yamasaki (real name: Masaru Yamazaki), and built between 1962-1976. The site covers an area of 6.5 hectares and consists of two 110-story (plus 6 basement levels) tower skyscrapers standing at 411.5 meters tall, along with four office buildings and a hotel. The floor plan of the skyscrapers is square-shaped, with each side measuring 63 meters in length, and each skyscraper covering an area of 466,000 square meters. They collapsed during the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.
