What is niche art?
Niche art is the art of a segment of people, it is personalized art. Popular art is composed of niche art. Just as niche art is submerged within popular art, without niche art there would be no popular art. Niche art has always existed; it's just been contained within the folk traditions and hidden within popular art, not yet prominently displayed. In an era that emphasizes personalization, we need popular art, but we call for niche art even more. Popular art often combines with mass media, while niche art moves through individualized forms of media. Popular art focuses on enhancing the overall aesthetic taste of society, whereas niche art can more deeply comfort individual spirits. Popular art can be understood as the currently dominant art form in vogue, while niche art can be seen as either the art that will soon become popular or has already passed its peak, being part of avant-garde art, cutting-edge art, and elite art. Just as "what is art" and "why art" are difficult to answer, sometimes it's hard to define the boundaries between popular art and niche art. Niche art can evolve into popular art, and popular art can also transform into niche art. Regarding popular art, perhaps cultural studies provide more convincing explanations.
