The Issue of Major and Minor Emptiness in the Notations on the Chinese Feng Shui Compass Dial

I have said that, since the Qing Dynasty, there has been no correct Feng Shui compass. I have also said that since the Qing Dynasty, very few "Feng Shui" masters truly understand the compass.

(1) Regarding the Issues of Large and Small Kong Wang (Void)

The so-called large Kong Wang refers to the boundary seams of the Earth Plate's twelve earthly branches' energy, namely, the twelve void dragons among the seventy-two dragons. The small Kong Wang refers to the boundary seams between adjacent seventy-two dragons. What is referred to as a "boundary seam" is a geometric line that does not occupy an area.

Why do the void dragons among the seventy-two dragons each occupy five degrees just like the other sixty Jiazi dragons? There are two reasons for this: one is because the Feng Shui of Guo and Yang multiplies vital energy, which involves multiplying flourishing energy. The large Kong Wang may sometimes contain residual energy on its left branch or initial energy on its right branch, but neither initial nor residual energy are considered flourishing energy, hence the large Kong Wang dragon occupies five degrees just like the other sixty dragons. The second reason is due to the arrangement of annotations on the compass and the adaptation to Li Siguang's theory of geological stress, where the five types (metal, wood, water, fire, earth) of vital energy objectively exist in each dragon's star sequence, thus occupying five degrees. This naturally can be understood by Feng Shui practitioners with rich practical experience in Feng Shui techniques. Only those who can comprehend these principles can truly know the essence of Guo and Yang's Feng Shui regarding true dragon and precise location. Similarly, any "Feng Shui" master who cannot explain the term "true dragon and precise location" are merely江湖 "Feng Shui" masters (referring to those who practice Feng Shui as a superficial trade or trickery).

(Note: 江湖 "Feng Shui" masters roughly translates to Feng Shui practitioners who operate more in the realm of charlatanism or quackery rather than genuine expertise.)
