Chinese Feng Shui, namely the Feng Shui of Guo (Pu) and Yang (Jinsong), was originally an ancient scientific Feng Shui with systematic theory, strong practicality, and standardized operation. However, due to Wang Ji (1007-1073) reviving the Eight Mansions system in Fujian, Hu Shunshen's (1136-1162) so-called "reform", Cai Yuan定 (1135-1198) and Wu Cheng's (1249-1333) arbitrary alterations of Guo Pu's original work "The Book of Burial" (hereafter referred to as "The Original Work"), as well as the writings of Daojing Monk, Wang Cheying, Zhao Jiufeng... etc., Chinese Feng Shui has degenerated into what is known as江湖 Feng Shui (folklore or unorthodox Feng Shui). The biggest culprit should be Jiang Dahong, who harbored malicious intentions and deceived others.

Why do I say this?

Wang Ji's revival of the Eight Mansions merely brought back to life the Eight Mansions that were denounced in Wang Chong's (27-97 AD) "Lunheng" treatise, which had been part of the Guo-Yang Feng Shui tradition from Ganzhou and reintroduced it to Fujian. This caused the development of Chinese Feng Shui to diverge between the scientific Guo-Yang Feng Shui and the metaphysical "Feng Shui" of the Eight Mansions.

Hu Shunshen's so-called "innovation" only added the relationship of "Xuan-Guan-Qiao" (Mystery-Passage-Hole) to the "Xuan-Qiao" (Mystery-Hole) relationship in Guo-Yang Feng Shui, reducing its effectiveness in achieving auspiciousness. Its harmful effects were relatively small.

Cai Yuan定 and Wu Cheng misinterpreted and altered "The Original Work", misunderstanding the theoretical essence of Guo-Yang Feng Shui and leading it astray. Although their harm was greater, like Wang Ji and Hu Shunshen, they all lacked a deep understanding of Guo-Yang Feng Shui and unintentionally caused damage to it.

Jiang Dahong, however, was different. In order to realize his undisclosed ambitions, he disregarded the interests of the people and deliberately fabricated a set of so-called three-yuan "geography" that has no meaning in Feng Shui, showing malicious intent and self-deception, which is infuriating.

Jiang Dahong (1620-?) whose real name was Ke, with the courtesy names Pingjie, Guozong, Zongyangzi, and Yunyangzi, was from Duling (today's Duxian County, Shaanxi Province), born in the 48th year of the Ming Wanli era (1620).
