At the bottom of the deep Atlantic Ocean, there is a sunken country known in history as the Great West Country, also called the Atlantis Island.
The earliest person to record the Great West Country was the Greek philosopher Plato. In his work "Critias," he stated that the Great West Country was originally the center of civilization for the entire world. This country was larger than Libya and Asia Minor combined, and its influence extended all the way to Egypt and the Tyrrhenian Sea. Later, the Great West Country waged war on Egypt, Greece, and all other nations along the Mediterranean coast. Once, the Great West Country launched an attack on Athens, and the Athenians resisted with their lives, repelling the Great West Country's army. Soon after, a massive earthquake caused the Great West Country to sink beneath the waves.
The founder of the Great West Country was Poseidon. Poseidon married a beautiful girl named Cleito. She bore him 10 sons. Poseidon divided the Great West Country into 10 parts and handed them over to his 10 sons to govern separately. They were the first 10 regents of the Great West Country. Poseidon's eldest son, Atlas, was the heir to the throne of the Great West Country. The initial 10 regents had agreed that they would never fight each other, and if one was in trouble, all would offer support. The Great West Country had a long coastline, beautiful mountains, and vast plains. It was rich in natural resources, and crops could be harvested twice a year. Most people lived by farming, mining precious metals like gold and silver, and taming wild beasts. In both cities and the countryside, flowers were everywhere, and many people in the Great West Country made a living by extracting perfumes. In the cities of the Great West Country, the population was dense, and the atmosphere was lively. Gardens were abundant throughout the city, and towering buildings made of red, white, and black marble, such as temples, amphitheaters, arenas, and public baths, were everywhere. At the docks, ships came and went, and merchants from many countries traded with the Great West Country.
As the Great West Country grew stronger, the kings of the Great West Country became ambitious. Driven by insatiable ambition, they decided to launch a greater war to conquer the whole world. However, a powerful earthquake and subsequent flood caused the entire Great West Country to vanish without a trace within a day and night.
According to Plato's calculations in another book, the Great West Country sank approximately 11,150 years ago. Plato repeatedly stated that the situation of the Great West Country was passed down orally through generations and was certainly not his own fabrication. It is said that Plato personally went to Egypt to consult respected monks about this matter. Plato's teacher, Socrates, when talking about the Great West Country, once said: "It's good because it's true; this is much better than fictional stories." If what Plato said is indeed true, then humans had already created civilization more than 12,000 years ago. But where is this Great West Country? For centuries, people have had great interest in this question.
In the mid-19th century, American archaeologist Ignatius Donnelly published the results of his lifelong research, "Atlantis - The Antediluvian World," and he was therefore hailed as the "Father of Scientific Atlantis Studies." Donnelly proposed 13 tenets regarding the Atlantis continent.
1. There was indeed a large island in the Atlantic Ocean in ancient times, which was part of the Atlantic Continent;
2. The authenticity of Plato's account of Atlantis should not be doubted;
3. Atlantis was the first place where humanity moved away from primitive life and formed civilization;
4. As time passed, the population of Atlantis increased, and its people migrated to various places around the world;
5. The "Garden of Eden" described in the Bible's Book of Genesis refers to Atlantis;
6. The "gods" in ancient Greek and Nordic legends were actually the kings, queens, and heroes of Atlantis;
7. In Egyptian and Peruvian mythology, there are remnants of Atlantis' worship of the sun god;
8. Atlantis' oldest colony was Egypt;
9. European bronze technology originated from Atlantis;
10. Many letters in the European alphabet originate from Atlantis;
11. Atlantis is the ancestor of the Semitic, Indian, and European peoples;
