Recently, many regions in China have launched D-letterhead trains. So, what are D-letterhead trains?

D stands for high-speed EMU (DONG). The EMU is an efficient transport tool for intercity and suburban railways to achieve small formations and high-density operations. It is favored by railway transportation in various countries and urban rail transit for its flexible formation, convenience, speed, safety, reliability, and comfort. The proportion of EMU usage is the highest in Japan, accounting for 87%; followed by the Netherlands and the UK, accounting for 83% and 61%, respectively; France and Germany come next, accounting for 22% and 12%, respectively. EMUs can be regarded as a dynamic force in railway passenger transport.
