The value of stones

I just read a fable called "The Value of Stone". I remember I've seen it before. Of course, I just took it as a story when I was a kid. Today, I accidentally saw this story again. So, I think it's necessary to write something about it. Below is the fable.

Once upon a time, there was a lonely child who often pessimistically asked an elder wise man: "What is the meaning of life for a child like me who no one looks up to? Where is the value of life?"

One day, the wise man called the boy and handed him a colorful stone, and said to him: "Tomorrow morning, you go to the market to sell this stone; but remember, no matter how much money others offer, you absolutely cannot sell it!"

The boy was full of doubts, thinking: Although this stone is pretty good, how could anyone be willing to spend money to buy it?
