Small handbags can be made from a single piece of fabric, or by piecing together rectangular strips of two different patterns to form a whole piece, or by combining one patterned fabric with one plain fabric as illustrated.
**Making Method:**
1. **Piecing the outer fabric:** Cut two different patterned fabrics into strips that are approximately 2.5 cm wide and 25 cm long, with about 15 strips of each. Sew them together, press the seams open, and iron them flat. Alternatively, sew together the patterned fabric and plain fabric as shown in the diagram, pressing the seams open and ironing them flat.
2. **Basting layers together:** Tack the completed outer fabric to the batting and lining fabric in three layers, securing them with basting stitches and pressing them flat.
3. **Cutting and shaping:** Cut the pieces into shape according to the diagram, trimming the ends into rounded arcs.
