According to the US "Wired" magazine website, scientists at the National Ignition Facility (NIF) of Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) hope to use 192 lasers and a device composed of an array of amplifiers and filters 400 feet long to create a self-sustaining fusion reactor like the sun or an exploding nuclear bomb. After the final batch of lasers was installed, a reporter from the "Wired" website visited this ignition facility to observe the world's most advanced scientific equipment.
