The West Rim of the Grand Canyon is currently constructing a great architectural wonder - the Skywalk. It is scheduled to be completed and opened on March 28, 2007. Extending seventy feet from the edge of the Grand Canyon and suspended 4,000 feet in the air.

According to the engineers' calculations, the glass bridge will be able to:

Withstand the weight of 71 fully loaded Boeing 747 aircraft (over seventy-one million pounds).

Withstand fierce winds exceeding one hundred miles per hour coming from eight different directions.

Withstand an earthquake measuring 8.0 on the Richter scale within a fifty-mile radius.

Over one million pounds of steel will be used in the construction of the glass bridge.

The only open-air café at the Grand Canyon, where visitors can enjoy a refreshing drink while sitting at the canyon's edge.

A luxury restaurant and bar built into the canyon rock walls.
