The Morning Post reported that the Chinese national image symbol might no longer be "dragon" in the future. Led by Professor Wu Youfu, the Party Secretary of Shanghai International Studies University and Vice President of the Shanghai Public Relations Association, the important research on reconstructing and presenting China's national image brand has been officially included in the Shanghai Philosophy and Social Sciences Planning Project. Professor Wu pointed out that the Western world is prejudiced against Eastern Buddhism and Confucian culture. In fact, the three schools of Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism in China pursue self-cultivation and advocate people-oriented governance and harmony between heaven and humanity, fully reflecting human nature. Therefore, when reshaping and constructing China's national image brand, we should attach great importance to and actively explore the positive image and elements in Chinese traditional culture, make use of the past for the present, innovate while maintaining tradition, and reshape symbols and carriers that can truly represent today's Chinese image. It is reported that if this project is completed, the new national image symbol created may very likely be adopted by relevant national departments. It is even considering using pandas, wolves, phoenixes, tigers, lions, and roosters to represent China's image.
