Those who frequently visit our blog may have noticed that I've been posting fewer articles recently. This is because I've been busy tinkering with Ubuntu, and even managed to get 3D effects working - it's visually stunning!
The WenQuanYi Zen Hei font is the default font in Ubuntu. Although it might feel a little unfamiliar at first, you'll soon get used to it. I'm using the vector version of Zen Hei, which has very smooth edges and corners, but some people might find it feels a bit light or floaty. That's just my personal impression; if you want to experience it yourself, download it quickly (by the way, everything here is open-source and free - no love for M$).
WenQuanYi is a famous set of free Chinese fonts, including dot matrix Songti and Zen Hei. In some distributions (like Ubuntu 8.04), WenQuanYi has been set as the default Chinese font.
Now, the new version of WenQuanYi Zen Hei called "Prayer" (version 0.6.26) has been officially released. Compared to the previous version "Kuafu", "Prayer" has many improvements, such as:
Added support for the latest version of Unicode (5.1) CJK characters
Optimized 6749 Chinese characters
Added the 44-wqy-zenhei.conf font matching file
Added the 66-wqy-zenhei-sharp.conf font matching file, suitable for those who prefer dot matrix style
