The popularity of the Raspberry Pi has attracted an increasing number of companies to enter the low-cost single-board computer market. A total of 1.2 million units of the $25 and $35 models of the Raspberry Pi have been sold. BeagleBoard, created by Texas Instruments employees, has launched the $45 BeagleBone Black, which boasts higher hardware specifications than the Raspberry Pi. It features a 1GHz Sitara AM335x ARM Cortex-A8 processor, 512MB of DDR3L memory, 2GB of storage space, and comes pre-installed with Ångström Linux. It supports the Ubuntu or Android operating systems and can be connected to devices such as 3D printers, Geiger counters, remote-controlled submarines, and LCD touchscreens. There are many similar single-board Linux PCs available. For example, the ODROID-U priced at $69 is equipped with a 1.4GHz Quad Core Prime Cortex-A9 processor, Mali-400 Quad Core running at 400MHz, and 1GB of memory. The ODROID-U2, priced at $89, features a 1.7GHz Quad Core processor, 2GB of memory, and supports Android 4.x and Ubuntu 12.10.
