Ubuntu Linux Teams Up with Nokia to Enter the Mobile Operating System Market

Nokia, the world's largest mobile phone manufacturer, is sponsoring the project to port Ubuntu Linux to the ARM architecture. A team known as "Handheld Mojo" has successfully ported Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fawn (codenamed "Frisky Firedrake") and Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon (codenamed "Grumpy Griffin") to the ARM architecture. The project to port Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron is also about to begin.
