The official release of Ubuntu 8.04 LTS is confirmed for April 24th.

Nightfire: After installing Ubuntu 7.10 a few days ago, I encountered quite a number of problems. One of the more frustrating ones is that both the built-in laptop speakers and the headphones are outputting sound at the same time, and this issue remains unresolved, which is pretty annoying. Additionally, some software still needs to run under XP as they perform rather sluggishly with Wine. There are over 20 days left until the official release of Ubuntu 8.04, and I'm too lazy to troubleshoot further; I'll just wait and switch directly then. The Wubi installer for Ubuntu 8.04 seems really amazing, though I'm not sure yet how it works exactly. Once the official version of Ubuntu 8.04 is released, I’ll give it a try.
