Xgl on Linux is absolutely the coolest desktop virtual 3D technology released last year. The 3D effects of Mac OS and Vista are kid stuff compared to Xgl. Recently, while searching online for the latest Beryl DesktopManager for Linux, I found that there is now an open-source project that can enable similar functions to Xgl on Windows. There's already a 0.1 version out. I downloaded it but found that it was all source files, not compiled, and therefore couldn't run directly. So, I can only look forward to this open-source project releasing an official, runnable version soon. There's a video demonstrating the effect at http://tv.mofile.com/MIHC97TT/. The homepage of this open-source project is http://www.toyd.org.
