According to foreign media reports, a senior HP executive recently revealed that HP will collaborate with Mozilla to launch a virtual browser. It is reported that this virtual browser has the appearance and functionality of "Firefox", but it is currently only available for use on HP's newly launched desktop computers.

It is understood that this browser has been introduced as a new security and green technology feature in the Compaq DC7900 series desktops launched by HP on Monday.

HP's North American Commercial Desktop Manager, Kirk Godkin, stated: "We believe the introduction of the virtual browser is a revolutionary innovation. In addition to Mozilla, we will also work with Firefox and Symantec to launch this HP-Firefox virtual browser."

HP mentioned that what makes this browser unique is that it operates within a virtual environment. Godkin stated: "This browser runs in a sandbox environment. Moreover, all action records including download history and cookies can be cleared." Godkin added: "Users can still bookmark and save their favorite web pages."

Godkin said that HP hopes this browser will include all the hallmark features of its desktop product lineup.

This virtual browser is one of the key features of the HP DC7900 series desktop products. The characteristics of this series also include dual independent displays, comprehensive power management functions, and security performance in a virtual environment.

According to HP, the price range for the Compaq DC7900 series desktop products varies from $699 to $1299.
