EBay Inc. yesterday launched WorldofGood.com, a green online store targeted at environmentalists and specializing in products made from recycled or natural materials. Overseas users can purchase products from developing countries through the website. Therefore, eBay stated that the website would have a "positive impact on people around the globe."
Products offered by sellers will be inspected by a third party to ensure they meet the environmental standards set by the website.
The website has a labeling system where each fixed-price product is tagged with information indicating whether it is made from recyclable organic materials, as well as its impact on energy conservation, etc.
Products available on WorldofGood.com are divided into 15 categories, including home goods, art, jewelry, clothing, and food.
All WorldofGood products are also available for purchase on the eBay e-commerce website.
According to relevant sources, the website is expected to generate significant revenue for eBay because green and environmentally friendly products account for nearly $206 billion in annual transactions in the United States.
