AMD has just announced its plan to unveil 45nm processing technology on the first day of CES, January 8, 2009.

The development code name for AMD's 45nm technology is Deneb, which will be characterized by high frequencies and will include architectural improvements and larger caches. The first AMD Phenom X4 processors will have clock speeds of 2.8GHz and 3GHz, supporting both DDR2 and DDR3 memory.

The new chips will still use the AM2+ socket and support DDR2 PC2-8500 (1066MHz DDR2) dual-channel.
