The National Foreign Language Translation Certificate Examination offers exams in English and Japanese series, with the Japanese exam held only in the first half of each year. Regarding the English level-four examination to be held for the first time in the second half of this year, relevant personnel from the Ministry of Education's Examination Center stated that the English level-four translation examination is planned to be held twice a year, on the fourth Saturday of May and October. A passing score in a single subject (interpretation or translation) can be retained for the next exam session. That is, if a candidate only passes the written translation or oral interpretation in one exam, they may only take the failed portion in the next adjacent exam session, and upon passing, will receive a level-four translation certificate. The Ministry of Education's Examination Center has also adjusted the entire translation examination project. The consecutive interpreting and simultaneous interpreting sections of the level-one oral examination have been changed from two separate exams to one exam held on the same day at each test site, which will greatly facilitate candidates from various regions. The Examination Center also offers certain registration fee discounts for college students.
From August 1st to September 5th, candidates can enter the registration page, fill out personal information online, and select the test site and subjects. Candidates can choose to register for English level-two written or oral translation, English level-three written or oral translation, or English level-four. Candidates need to download and print the registration form, and from September 8th to 12th, bring the registration form to the test site for confirmation and payment. For the first-ever English level-four examination, candidates must simultaneously register for both written translation and oral interpretation.
