22 Ways to Promote Your Website

To promote a website and build its own brand, the first step is to have relatively good content and a better user experience. If you can't achieve these, don't promote the website yet. Otherwise, wait until the website improves before promoting it, or consider changing industries! Below are some website promotion methods I've summarized.

1. Collect email addresses of editors from various news websites and submit your news to them. Think about why their news gets published and find more newsworthy topics. (If possible, it's best to have someone skilled in public relations or journalism who can write news well, specifically handling this task).

2. Give priority to editors who have published your news. Send them future news releases first, or even exclusive news.

3. There's something called a bulletin board, BLOG, which specifically records company news, like GOOGLE does. You can create two sections: one for your own bulletin board and another for others' bulletin boards. Record news for others on their bulletin boards, and they will likely do the same for you or include your website introduction.

4. Recommend your articles on websites like diglog, Zhaba, and Wenzhai. If your article is good and ranks high, the traffic it brings can be quite significant!

5. Promote your website on forums but use some strategy; don't directly post advertisements. It's best to start a topic that encourages lively discussions (and there's nothing wrong with creating your own topic).

6. Use Baidu Tieba and Wenba. Find relevant Tiebas and promote your website just as you would on forums. On Wenba, find related topics, answer them, and link back to your website.

7. Use RSS promotion. Introduce RSS to everyone; the more people subscribe, the higher the chance of return visits.

8. Collaborate with forums related to your niche. You don't necessarily need to contact each website's advertising department or webmaster; often moderators can handle things, and it's cheaper and easier. For example, if your website introduces creative home goods, you can reach out to moderators of fashion-related sections on various websites and ask them to pin or highlight introductions about your website (make sure it doesn't look too much like an advertisement, but rather feels like sharing useful information).

10. Keep up with the times. When WEB2.0 was at its peak, if your website was WEB2.0, many bloggers would voluntarily introduce you. It's like when female friends buy clothes; whatever is currently popular, they will definitely mention it and also talk about which stores offer that style.

11. Collaborate with related websites to complement resources. Cooperation leads to a better future.

12. Make your entrepreneurship story as dramatic as Fuyong Sister’s body, full of twists and turns. Shape yourself into a star entrepreneur; stars always have more support, especially from fans, who become your free promoters.

13. Leave comments on related BLOGs and remember to leave your website URL. Make insightful comments; don’t act like a beggar asking for traffic and then leaving immediately.

14. Find websites you like and establish links with them. This is similar to finding a partner; first, ensure compatibility (search engines prefer compatible sites), then choose ones you like. If you don't like a site, others might feel the same way, just like choosing an unsuitable partner can lead to bad consequences.

15. Apply to be listed on URL navigation sites.

16. Viral marketing. This doesn't mean creating harmful viruses. It refers to encouraging netizens to promote you voluntarily, creating a viral-like effect. There are many ways, such as providing unique software, humorous content, or free services.

17. Event promotion. Organize an event, like a website evaluation, and contact multiple co-organizing websites. Mark the co-organizing websites on your site and let them advertise your event. Blogs are also great tools for spreading information during events, but your event must be creative, like the wine case example.

18. Search engine promotion. Adjust the website structure reasonably and after completing all the above tasks, you've basically done simple search engine optimization! Submitting the website isn't necessary anymore; those methods are outdated and waste time. Spend that time doing other things instead.

19. Attend more related gatherings and hand out business cards enthusiastically!

Things to avoid:

20. Sending spam emails. It wastes time and most end up in the junk mail folder. Worse still, you could get fined.

21. Mass posting messages on forums or blogs. Just like street flyers, it's very annoying.

22. Minimize the use of pop-up windows. Many people are still scared of shopping on Taobao due to pop-ups. Most internet users see pop-up windows and assume they're viruses, so they're afraid.

I plan to write 100 ways to promote a website. Please leave comments and share your methods. Thank you!
