The fresh water small dragonfish is very sensitive to heavy metals and some pesticides such as dibutyl, pyrethroid insecticides. Therefore, the aquaculture water body should meet the national issued fishery water quality standard and the fresh water quality standard of non-harmful food. If using ground water to culture fresh water small dragonfish, it is necessary to detect the ground water beforehand to avoid high content of heavy metal which will affect the growth and development of small dragonfish.
