Network consultants? Are they necessary?

When I discussed with my friends about my decision to be an online consultant, they asked me, "Online Consultant? Is it necessary?" Actually, these two questions have been haunting me for a long time. First of all, this industry is mixed with all kinds of people, and there are quite a lot of people who just talk big without doing any real work. But that's also a skill which we can't catch up with or learn. Secondly, because of the chaos, I didn't even bother to pay attention to the industry of online consultation for a very long time. I thought it was something for those who told lies and bragged. Finally, if everyone is doing it, why shouldn't I consider doing what no one is really doing?
