Midday news on the 16th, according to foreign media reports, sources revealed that the European Commission would submit the latest monopoly lawsuit against Intel as early as Thursday and expand the investigation into the company's marketing activities.
The source said that the EU planned to sue Intel for enticing major retailers within the EU to ban AMD products with preferential conditions. It is reported that the European Commission's investigation of Intel has lasted nearly 8 years, which is one of the most complicated anti-monopoly cases handled by the commission.
Last year, the EU sued Intel for obstructing PC manufacturers from adopting AMD processors in PCs and low-cost servers with conditions such as discounts, marketing subsidies, and low-priced products. In these products' x86 chips, Intel took more than 75% of the market share. According to EU law, companies with a dominant market position must not hinder industry competition.
