The entire film gave me the feeling that the director seems to want to develop in the direction of Quentin, but his level of violent aesthetics seems to be several levels below Quentin's. At least, not as visually stunning as Quentin's. More so, it feels like a typical Hollywood money-spending blockbuster. As I mentioned at the beginning, it's almost inevitable to hire two extremely average actors for some mumbling极限运动 (extreme sports/romantic scenes?), and then showing off Angelina Jolie's sexy back to attract attention. This is not wrong per se, but it feels a bit abrupt.
With Angelina Jolie and Morgan Freeman on board, the box office appeal of this movie is secured. Then, paired with the screenwriter's incredible creativity and the director's boundless imagination, as well as the producer's close cooperation - I have to say: this is still a very entertaining movie!
In terms of visual effects: those bullets that can turn corners have dazzled many people's eyes, but I am particularly interested in the strange wax-like pool that can heal injuries after soaking for just a few hours. The car chase scene when Jolie first appears is very exciting, especially the final "Dragon Tail" move to escape from the police, which is quite astonishing. Some people say that the part where Jolie dies at the end is very unscientific. I would say, is there any part of this movie that conforms to science? Or, the only correct thing is that no mutants appear in the movie. However, does the male protagonist's 400 heartbeats count?!
Speaking of this, the one place where the screenwriter did not make a mistake is allowing Jolie to leave gracefully and beautifully. If the story had developed a grand love story between the protagonists just because of a fleeting kiss, and then led to a happy ending - this would undoubtedly have become a flaw in the movie. Good, the screenwriter finally held back, and I am relieved. Since we are telling a story about a lone hero, he should continue to remain lonely and mysterious.
