GFW (Great Firewall), also known as the "Chinese Firewall" or "China's National Firewall," refers to the collective term for multiple network censorship systems established within the internet jurisdiction of the People's Republic of China. These include the Golden Shield system and related administrative censorship systems. Generally, it mainly refers to the system composed of software and hardware, such as computers and network devices, which automatically reviews and filters internet content while monitoring online activities.

Its English name, Great Firewall of China (which has a rhyming effect with the Great Wall), is often abbreviated as Great Firewall or its acronym GFW. With its widespread use, GFW has also been used as a verb. The term "GFWed" refers to being blocked by the Great Firewall.
