The real-name system for Beijing Zhongshua mobile service has officially started. Reporters learned yesterday that from now on, when customers sign up for the Zhongshua mobile service at any of the 250 self-owned business halls of Beijing Mobile, they will need to provide personal identification, and a single individual can register up to three phone numbers under their name.

Relevant personnel from Beijing Mobile stated that the real-name system for Zhongshua mobile service would be first implemented in self-owned business halls, also known as the main business halls, and will later gradually be extended to other channels. It was understood that before, Zhongshua card numbers could be purchased and registered arbitrarily, leading to prominent issues such as number scalping and abandonment. The real-name system is expected to bring about a certain level of standardization and help curb the proliferation of spam messages.

In many self-owned business halls, Beijing Mobile has already posted relevant announcements stating that starting from July 25, 2008, customers signing up for Zhongshua mobile service at Beijing Mobile's main business hall must provide identification documents for the company to record relevant information. Beijing Mobile particularly pointed out that the same valid ID can register up to three Zhongshua numbers (including all Zhongshua sub-brands, excluding Zhongshua Olympic cards and Olympic international cards). Additionally, when registering for Zhongshua service on behalf of another person, one must present the IDs of both parties and a letter of authorization. This measure currently only applies to new subscribers.
