In recent years, the development momentum of China's Internet has been rapid. By February this year, the number of Chinese netizens had reached 221 million, surpassing the United States to rank first in the world. The influence of Chinese netizens has drawn global attention. Domestically, due to the persistence of netizens, the truth behind the "Tiger Photo Scandal" that lasted for nine months was finally revealed. Internationally, incidents such as the "insulting remarks by CNN hosts towards China" and "Sharon Stone's inappropriate remarks on the earthquake" were also resolved under the heavy pressure of public opinion from China's Internet, with apologies made where necessary and repentance expressed where required.
Thus, in people's minds, even if China's Internet is not the best in the world, it should at least be in the top three. However, a recent report by the World Economic Forum shows that in terms of network development maturity, China ranks only 57th among 127 global economies. This report is officially titled "The Global Information Technology Report 2007".
