According to the latest news from Warner Brothers Pictures, "The Dark Knight" achieved a box office revenue of 155.34 million US dollars over its opening weekend, living up to expectations and setting a new record in film history! It surpassed the record set by "Spider-Man 3" which made 151 million US dollars over three days in May 2007, creating a miracle in July amidst a lineup of big films. According to statistics and estimates, the revenue over the three days of the weekend was as follows: 67.85 million US dollars (Friday), 48 million US dollars (Saturday), and 39.49 million US dollars (Sunday). In addition, the film broke nine other box office records, forging a new cinematic legend.

However, "The Dark Knight" did not break the Saturday and Sunday box office records set by "Spider-Man 3". Actually, if we exclude the revenue from the midnight screenings of "The Dark Knight" on Friday, the daytime revenue (49.37 million US dollars) was comparable to that of Saturday (48 million US dollars). The Sunday box office followed the usual estimation and dropped by 17.7% compared to the previous day. The final actual data will be announced on Tuesday.
