Prior rumors suggested Nokia was developing a music phone with the codename "Glee," which would eventually be named the Nokia Lumia 525. Despite not being unveiled at the Nokia World Conference as expected, this rumored music-focused device was finally partially revealed in a retweet by Nokia.
Nokia Lumia 525 Exposure
Famed leaker evleaks had previously disclosed on Twitter that Nokia would launch a new Lumia phone focused on music within the year. Its development codename was "Nokia Glee," and the model number would be the Nokia Lumia 525. Although this new phone wasn't released at the Nokia World Conference, its release time has remained highly anticipated.
Now, a retweet from Nokia has brought the Nokia Lumia 525 to light. While the content of the tweet didn’t mention any specific features, according to the tweet, simply “retweeting” could give one a chance to win two tickets to a Canadian Live Nation concert and a Nokia Lumia 525, with a combined value of 250 USD. Although it's possible that buying the phone might come with free concert tickets, such promotions suggest that the Lumia 525’s price will definitely not exceed 250 USD, or approximately 1520 RMB.
Potential Release in Early November
Notably, while the exact release date of the Nokia Lumia 525 is still unclear, since the deadline for this event is November 3rd, if there are no unexpected developments, Nokia should officially launch this new device in early November. Based on past industry speculation, the Nokia Lumia 525 will be an upgraded version of the Nokia Lumia 520, also belonging to the entry-level WP8 system phones. It may include special headphones and offer music-related features such as Nokia Music subscriptions.
In addition, it is expected that the Nokia Lumia 525 will feature a 4-inch WVGA resolution IPS display, powered by a 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with 512MB of RAM and 8GB of storage space, supporting micro-SD card expansion. Of course, since it is merely a variant version, it will likely still have a 5-megapixel camera, and probably won’t include a front-facing camera. In terms of hardware specifications, there won’t be much improvement or change compared to its predecessor.
