Regarding media reports that LeTV is about to enter the smartphone market, Zhang Te, Vice President and Board Secretary of LeTV, denied these rumors. He stated that there has been no internal project initiation for smartphones within LeTV, nor have any decisions been made to conduct smartphone business. For the overall LeTV ecosystem, the timing to enter the smartphone market is not yet ripe.
Zhang Te explained, "Currently, the company is focusing on the layout of a home large-screen internet strategy, with the LeTV ecosystem beginning to take shape. Entering the smartphone market at this time would分散resources, so the smartphone business remains purely speculative by the media." He further elaborated that entering the smartphone market would require detailed analysis and discussion. Currently, there are no related topics or projects initiated internally, nor has the board received any proposals from management regarding smartphones.
Zhang Te emphasized that for LeTV, the most important task is to build a four-layer architecture consisting of "platform + content + terminal + application," to perfect a vertically integrated ecosystem based on the video industry chain. Within this system, home terminals are a critical link closely tied to the ecosystem. Therefore, the company will focus its efforts on deepening and thoroughly developing home entertainment terminals, laying out the entry point for large-screen internet.
"Currently, mobile terminals face high costs under cellular transmission modes and poor network coverage conditions. Therefore, extending into smartphone business via the video ecosystem may not be timely. For now, we will remain focused on optimizing the home terminal which provides the best viewing experience," Zhang Te concluded.
