In August, Microsoft launched the lightweight Web application development tool, Windows Phone App Studio. Currently, it has reached 160,000 users, 150,000 projects, and 65,000 applications. Today, Microsoft has introduced a new set of features for the Windows Phone App Studio tools.
These enhancements improve the application development workflow through better code and project management:
A new caching system allows the phone to access cached data when offline.
Unused external References in Visual Studio projects are removed to reduce project size and complexity.
New features include quick resume, FlipView, NFC integration, and rapid integration of native phone functionalities (such as opening maps, music, calls, etc.).
Third-party SDKs are beginning to be integrated, with the current inclusion of the Windows Phone Ad SDK.
You can start creating your own applications using Windows Phone App Studio.
