Apple CEO Tim Cook stated today that iPad has already captured 94% of the global education tablet market. He said he had never seen any product with such a high market share.

Apple previously launched its iPad series into the educational sector, and schools as a major potential customer also helped increase iPad's share in the general consumer market. Cook said the education industry has nearly a $1 billion revenue potential for Apple.

In addition, Apple's earnings report released today for the fourth quarter exceeded Wall Street's expectations, mainly due to the strong sales of the new iPhone. However, next quarter's iPad sales will not stay at this quarter's 14.1 million units, because of last Friday's launch of the iPad Air and next month's launch of the Retina iPad mini, iPad sales are very likely to reach new heights again.
