The official Google blog announced an update to the reCAPTCHA system, which reduces the difficulty for humans while increasing the challenge for bot programs. Google did not elaborate on the technical implementation details, only stating that it uses advanced risk analysis technology to comprehensively evaluate the entire process of user interaction with reCAPTCHA — analyzing user activities before, during, and after the interaction. The distorted characters that required people to squint and carefully examine the screen caused a lot of trouble, and this was also the most controversial aspect of the reCAPTCHA verification system.
