Next Monday, Apple will release its quarterly financial report. Gene Munster, a well-known analyst who has long followed Apple in the U.S., recently released a report regarding Apple's future performance and target stock price. He stated that Apple will launch the large-screen iPhone 6 next year, and it will hit the market earlier than expected by outsiders.
Munster indicated that various factors allow the market to remain optimistic about Apple's stock price. Currently, Apple's stock price is at $531, while Munster has set a target price of $640.
Last year, after the iPhone 5 had sold well for a period of time, during the fourth quarter of last year and the first quarter of this year, due to concerns from investors over a potential decline in iPhone sales, Apple's stock price dropped significantly. Munster stated that by the end of this year, iPhone sales will decrease somewhat, but not as drastically as last year. The strong sales momentum of the iPhone 5s will last longer.
Munster said that more importantly than the iPhone 5s, next summer, Apple will launch the iPhone 6, and it will be available on the market earlier than anticipated by outsiders. This phone will feature a larger screen size, and Munster claims it will become a best-selling product.
Tech media speculates that the iPhone 6 will have a five-inch screen, equipped with NFC (Near Field Communication chip), and a better-performing camera sensor.
This analyst noted that consumer enthusiasm for the iPhone 6 will offset concerns over the decline in iPhone 5s sales.
According to Munster's analysis, Apple also has a smartwatch project, codenamed "iWatch," and a smart TV under development. Rumors of these new products will also drive up Apple's stock price.
However, in his analysis report, Munster did not specify the exact release times of Apple's new products. His predictions for new products are largely consistent with media reports.
Media pointed out that for the smartwatch iWatch, Apple might choose to launch it in 2015. Various signs indicate that Apple has begun assembling the smartwatch project team this year. It is expected that after optimization and improvement, the smartwatch will be mass-produced next year.
