This week, the American technology website CNET published an article exposing a confidential project by Google on Treasure Island in the San Francisco Bay Area search results.

Treasure Island was formerly a U.S. naval base, and large-scale construction is underway on a barge there. This building is about four stories high and is constructed using multiple cargo containers. It is currently unclear what is inside the building.

Google has not responded to outside inquiries, but based on the lease, statements from relevant individuals, and opinions from local residents and experts, it can be confirmed that the construction entity for this project is Google. However, very little detailed information is currently known.

Some experts believe that this may become a Google offshore data center.

Building data centers at sea facilitates cooling and access to cheap energy. In 2009, Google also obtained a patent for a ship-based data center.

It cannot yet be determined whether this building is an offshore data center, but Google has previously attempted to build data centers in locations conducive to cooling. Additionally, Google has undertaken projects like "Google Balloon" that seem incredible.
