LG has partnered with Spanish telecommunications company Telefónica to release the $200 Firefox OS smartphone, Fireweb, in Brazil. The Fireweb is not a mid-to-high-end smartphone, and its relatively high price may reflect the local high taxation. Electronic products in South American countries are generally expensive; for instance, the Sony PS4 is priced at $1850 in Brazil (compared to $399 in the U.S.).

Also launched was the Alcatel One Touch Fire. The LG Fireweb is LG's first Firefox OS smartphone, featuring a 4-inch display with a resolution of 480 x 320, a 1GHz Qualcomm processor, 4GB of storage expandable up to 32GB via microSD, a 5-megapixel camera with auto-focus and LED flash, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, and 3G connectivity, powered by a 1540mAh battery. The new Firefox OS smartphones will run on the latest version of Firefox OS 1.1, which includes performance improvements and new features.
