Lubuntu is a fast, lightweight, and energy-saving variant of Ubuntu that uses the LXDE (Lightweight X11 Desktop Environment) desktop. It is designed for systems with low resource configurations and is primarily intended for netbooks, mobile devices, and older personal computers.
Currently, Canonical's Ubuntu Linux operating system final releases have been published, including Lubuntu 13.10 (Saucy Salamander) and UbuntuKylin 13.10, which is specifically targeted at the Chinese market.
Although there are not many differences from previous releases, this version introduces a new pcmanfm / libfm (1.1.0), which includes an integrated search tool, new wallpapers, improved performance of community wallpapers and new icon artwork for better aesthetics, as well as other functional improvements.
The hardware requirements for Lubuntu 13.10 remain the same as before, with a minimum requirement of a Pentium II or Celeron device with 128MB of memory.
