The newly launched LinkedIn Intro takes LinkedIn's mobile strategy a step further.
LinkedIn Intro integrates users' LinkedIn information into the iPhone mail app, allowing users to directly view the sender's LinkedIn profile within emails, including details such as the company they work for, their position, and mutual LinkedIn contacts.
In addition to the built-in iPhone mail app, LinkedIn Intro also supports Gmail, AOL Mail, Yahoo Mail, iCloud, and enterprise email accounts based on Google Apps. The technology behind LinkedIn Intro comes from Rapportive, a social mail application that was acquired by LinkedIn in February last year.
This is just part of LinkedIn's mobile achievements. At a recent conference in San Francisco, LinkedIn CEO Jeff Weiner said that LinkedIn's mobile momentum is advancing rapidly, with independent user visits from mobile devices reaching 38%. In the first quarter of 2011, this proportion was only 8%. Weiner predicts that LinkedIn's mobile user ratio will exceed 50% next year.
