40 million - the latest sales figure for the Galaxy S4.

This number was revealed by Samsung CEO J.K. Shin in an interview with the Korean media outlet inews24. The Galaxy S4 was launched in April this year, which means it has only been on the market for a little over half a year.

Just two months after its release, Samsung announced that Galaxy S4 sales had surpassed 20 million units; four months later, sales broke through 30 million. Now, just six months after its launch, the Galaxy S4 has successfully sold more than 40 million units.

The previous flagship model, the Galaxy S3, took seven months to reach 40 million in sales, meaning the Galaxy S4 achieved this milestone faster than its predecessor. Despite criticism of the plastic casing used in the Galaxy S series, it hasn't affected the phone's sales performance. Additionally, reports indicate that Samsung internally is not entirely satisfied with this achievement, believing that the Galaxy S4 could have performed even better.

Rumors suggest that Samsung may release the Galaxy S5 as early as January next year, giving the Galaxy S4 less time to shine compared to its predecessors. It is also rumored that the Galaxy S5 will abandon the traditional plastic shell in favor of a full metal body. Furthermore, the new device is expected to be equipped with Samsung's first 64-bit mobile processor and a 16-megapixel camera with optical image stabilization.
