Samsung Officially Apologizes: Problem Models Extended Warranty for One Year

CCTV Finance Channel's "Economic Half Hour" program recently reported consecutively on the "Font Library Gate" incident involving Samsung Galaxy S3 and Note 2 that occurred earlier this year, directly pointing out that Samsung treated Chinese consumers unfairly in the repair and after-sales service process.

At three-thirty this afternoon, Samsung officially issued an apology and corporate rectification statement to Chinese consumers through CCTV Finance Channel.

Samsung's statement is as follows:

One, After the airing of the "Economic Half Hour" program, Samsung China Investment Co., Ltd. took it very seriously, made a profound reflection and review of the content of the report, established a special task force to handle the "Font Library Gate", and extended deep apologies to Chinese consumers;

Two, The problematic mobile phones reflected in the report involve 7 models: S3 (I939; I9300/CM16, I9308/M16), NOTE2 (N719/M16, M7100/CM16, N7102/CM16, N7108/CM16). Samsung decided to provide free repairs for phones with issues;

Three, If any consumer has already paid for repairing the aforementioned problematic phone, Samsung will process a refund;

Four, If two repairs still cannot restore normal usage, Samsung will provide a free replacement of the same model for the consumer;

Five, For the above-mentioned mobile phone models involved, all products manufactured before November 30, 2012, regardless of whether they have been repaired or not, will have their warranty period extended by one year.
