There are reports today that HTC will shut down or sell more than 1/5 of its production lines and manufacture phones through outsourcing, which may mark the path for this phone manufacturer, originally an OEM manufacturer, to be outsourced.
Subsequently, Engadget asked the senior management of HTC about this matter. The senior management of HTC said that they had no plans to sell or close any production lines, and their current financial situation was fine. In the future, they would continue to focus on mid-to-high-end smartphones and wearable devices.
Also, from previous news, HTC Chairman Cher Wang will take over the company's marketing and supply chain operations, while CEO Peter Chou, who is an engineer by background, will focus on product development.
